Restauration d'un Sabar
Réparation du fût et montage d'une peau de chèvre brute sur un Sabar. (12 photos)
La peau et les sangles sont à changer. Le fût est salement fendu au dessus de l'un des coins. Après démontage je réalise que la fissure va presque jusqu'en bas du fût, mais que celle-ci a déjà été réparée et renforcée par une plaque de métal clouée.
Je récupère la cordelette en peau pour le montage de la nouvelle peau.
Encollage de la fissure et des éclats de bois alentours...
Serrage du collage de la fissure par un cintrage en corde et un levier de serrage. Une cale à l'intérieur du fût permet le maintien du collage d'un éclat de bois important pour garder le chanfrein net.
Une fois séché, c'est comme neuf !
J'en profite pour mettre les bons coins dans les bons trous car y en a pas deux pareils.
La première étape du montage de la nouvelle peau de chèvre d'épaisseur moyenne, après l'avoir trempée une nuit, consiste à la tendre sur le fût à l'aide des coins.
Je procède un coin après l'autre en vis a vis...
D'abord le repérage et marquage au stylo..
Puis découpe des 3 fentes. La première au centre et située juste au niveau du trou du coin dans le fût. Les deux autres de part et d'autre sont à 2,5 cm de celle-ci. Le coins est enfilé dans les fentes de la peau puis fiché dans son trou.
La peau forme un alors pli régulier au dessus du coin...
Les neufs coins sont ainsi montés et permettent de tendre la peau et de la plaquer tendu contre le fût.
A quelques centimètres en dessous du chanfrein je trace la ligne de base des fentes pour le montage de la tresse de maintient et des sangles de tension.
Puis je réparti les repères et entailles les fentes (1,5 cm) tout autour du fût à raison de 5 fentes entres chaque coins.
J'enroule la cordelette (en peau récupérée et retrempée) de plaquage entre la ligne de base des fentes et les coins... Elle est maintenue provisoirement sur un coins car finira sa course enroulée ensuite en dessous des coins.
A l'aide d'une "aiguille" improvisée en fil de fer, je passe la corde pour nouer la tresse de maintien de la peau.
Une première tresse de maintien fait tout le tour du fût. Puis, dans les même fentes, s'ajoutent les cordes pour faire les tresses de tension au niveau de chaque coins.
La cordelette de plaquage de la peau poursuit sa course autour du fût en dessous des coins. La peau en trop est découpée.
Les corde de tension sont ensuite assemblées et nouées au niveau de chaque coin.
